Melted cheese with high quality toasted bread is a match made in heaven! While grilled cheese sandwiches aren’t hard to come by, there are certain restaurants in LA that cook up an irresistible melt. Here are our top three favorites.
Grilled Cheese Sandwiches in Los Angeles
Blind Barber
Grilled cheese and a haircut, two bits! Our first favorite is just around the corner from your Upper Ivy apartments for rent in Culver City, and yes, it is a barbershop. Blind Barber may be one of the most unique gems in Los Angeles. Behind the four-chair barbershop is a full bar. This hidden speakeasy includes an outstanding cocktail list with small bites. Their grilled cheese sandwich is a combination of smoked Gouda along with Parmesan, mozzarella, and mascarpone. The Blind Barber isn’t playing games here. Their bread comes from the La Brea Bakery. Nothing but quality. You’ll often find grilled cheeses paired with tomato soup. At the Blind Barber, they complement theirs with a kale salad with lemon vinaigrette plus two dipping sauces – garlic chipotle aioli and Sriracha BBQ.
Clementine
Just five miles away from your Culver City apartments is Clementine in Century City. Their creativity shines with their horoscope inspired grilled cheeses, a.k.a. their Astrolocheese menu. At the moment, they have a specialized grilled cheese for Leos, Cancers, and Pisces. The cheesy goodness doesn’t stop there! They also offer a build-your-own option. The cheeses include Tillamook cheddar, Gruyere, mozzarella, and feta. The bread range is also vast with country white, wheat, whole grain, and olive bread. You are more than welcome to add protein and veggies into the mix. We’d suggest the mushrooms and turkey. No matter the combo, it will surely make you melt.

The Grilled Cheese Truck
A food truck dedicated to grilled cheese sandwiches? Sounds like heaven! The Grilled Cheese Truck makes daily stops all over LA. There are 11 different signature melts to choose from plus sides like tater tots and tomato soup. You can also customize your crusts and incorporate savory add ons such as potato chips and caramelized onions. They have a collection of new melts, including a three-cheese melt and a buffalo chicken melt. Our favorite on the menu is the goat cheese melt with red onions, avocado, and fresh spinach. Check out their current schedule along with their kitchen hours here if you choose to order takeout. You can even get delivery through Grubhub, Postmates, or Doordash from 3 to 8 PM.
Those may be our top three favorites, but it doesn’t stop there. We have a handful of local restaurants in Culver City, serving up some excellent grilled cheeses. We have some runner-ups! They are the cheese melt at Quicksand, the Blue Ribbon Sandwich at The Carving Board, and the lobster grilled cheese at Lobster & Beer
